If we would admit it I think most all of us would have to say there are times when we render an unacceptable worship to God.  We sing, as an example, more or less by rote while our mind is off elsewhere.  The heart is not in the message of the hymn.  The worship becomes mechanical rather than spiritual and there can be little doubt God takes no pleasure in what we are doing.  We ought to feel guilt about such things.

The Lord's Supper can be another example of the same thing.  The mind wonders, the heart is elsewhere, and we are guilty of a worship that displeases God.  We ought to be worried and deeply concerned about our spiritual life when we find this happening.  As the old hymn says, "is thy heart right with God"?

If I had a son who had passed away it would be my desire that those who came to the services in his memory would truly be sharing with me from the heart my sorrow.  I would want them to be people who cared and not people who just showed up because they thought they ought to or had to.  One gets little comfort from people who really do not care.  Do we think it is any different with God?  His son died and we have in a sense come to the services when we are observing the Lord's Supper.

We need to care about what we do, why we do it, and how we do it when it comes to worshipping God.  In everyday life out in the world we see from time to time those who are careless about how they do things.  When one sees a careless person one cannot help but wonder how much that person cares?  Does he care enough to do a thing right?  Is he interested enough to study to see how to properly do the task?  Does he think it is such a little thing that it matters but little?

What about us when we get that kind of attitude about worshipping God?  What about us when we "just do it" when it comes to observing the Lord's Supper?  Should we not do some serious studying on the topic so that we are not like the careless man who feels no need to study or prepare for the task at hand?  If you are one who believes a person ought to seek God's will, strive to know it, and to do it acceptably then I hope you will find on this site resources that will help on this topic.  I believe you will.

At the present time there are about 100 articles by brethren listed that either deal directly or indirectly with the Lord's supper and that by nearly 60 writers.  I will continue to add to the site from time to time.  There is much here for any person having a desire to study this topic.  Start reading and read an article a day for a few days and I am positive you are going to learn some things you did not know.  The goal is knowledge as a means to an end.  The end is a proper observance out of the heart.  We wish to observe the supper spiritually and please God and be spiritually uplifted.

I have also added some things to the site unrelated to the topic of the Lord's Supper.  You will find here in the menu a link entitled "Unrelated Subjects" where you will find articles on matters of the faith covering other topics.  There is also a "Links" page which I believe you will find quite helpful.  Finally, you will find some outstanding audio sermons by Waymon Swain, one of the better preachers I have ever had the opportunity to hear.  I have been spending most of my time working on this site in recent months adding to the list of Waymon's audio sermons.
